What is telehealth?
Telehealth is an effective way of providing therapy with the use of telecommunication technology. It encompasses telemedicine (diagnosis and treatment) and education aspects of health care.
Telehealth allows us to provide high quality and effective therapy across geographic, time, social and/or cultural barriers.
What does a telehealth consultation involve at Next Wave Therapy?
A telehealth consultation is much the same as a consultation in person. The technology has been streamlined to give you the highest quality experience with successful health outcomes.
Using a person centered approach means our therapists provide individually tailored therapy based on your needs.
MAKING AN APPOINTMENT
You can make an appointment by phoning reception, emailing us or booking online here.
Once your appointment is made you will be sent an email with a link to our online platform. At the scheduled time all you need to do is click on the link and you will automatically ‘walk’ into you therapist’s ‘virtual room’. It is that easy.
DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT
Your therapist will take you through the usual format for an appointment
An Initial appointment is 60 minutes and usually follows a 3 step process.
-
Firstly, it involves listening to you, finding out what the problem is and what you are concerned about. An experienced clinician will have a pretty good idea at this stage on what is going on for you.
-
From here, your therapist will need more information to get to the heart of what is going on for you. This may involve filling in a questionnaire, answering more specific questions or demonstrating a movement, for example.
-
Finally your therapist will talk to you about what their findings and formulate a targeted treatment plan with you.
A Follow up appointment will involve checking progress, providing therapy or simply touching base to check on how you are progressing. Your therapist will discuss your options with you.
